KMOV dominates November ratings, wins at Noon, 5, 6 and 10

(KMOV.com) -- St. Louis has seen one of the biggest swings in news viewership in nearly 30 years, with KMOV now the clear cut No. 1 news station in St Louis. 

In the just-completed November ratings period, KMOV finished first at noon, first at 5 p.m., first at 6 p.m. and first at 10 p.m..  KMOV also saw a major surge in morning news viewership.  Below are the ratings in A25-54 for each of the news dayparts:

News 4’s “Watching Out for You” brand continues to resonate with a growing number of St Louis news viewers.  While KMOV has been consistently winning the late news for some time now, the response to the new KMOV anchor teams on the evening newscasts is dramatic. 

The all-female team of Sharon Reed, Jasmine Huda and Katie Horner first moved to #1 in the October ratings period, and continues to show tremendous growth, improving on not only the 1.6 A25-54 rating from 2012, but also the 2.3 rating achieved in October. 

“This is a team that has focused like a laser beam on providing the best content in St Louis at 5,” said KMOV Executive News Director Sean McLaughlin. “They clearly are connecting with St. Louis news viewers.”

Now the success of the 5 p.m. newscast is carrying over to the 6 p.m. news time period, with News 4 at 6 jumping nearly 60% over last year to win the time period for the first time in many years. Anchor Steve Savard has joined Sharon Reed and Steve Templeton to form the 6 p.m. team.

“We have taken a completely difference approach as a station to the 6 p.m. newscast over the past year," KMOV President and General Manager Mark Pimentel explained.  “Adding an investigative focus to that newscast has absolutely been a difference maker for us.”

News 4 also continued its domination of the noon show, more than doubling the ratings of the only news competitor in that time period.  News 4 This Morning also continued its trend of surging ratings, jumping nearly 50 percent to nearly catch KSDK, which continues to see ratings erosion in the morning.

Great Day St Louis also has seen ratings jump, doubling its number from 2012 to a .60 in A25-54, beating KSDK, which declined from a .9 to a .59.

Maurice Drummond has also debuted as Sports Director this week after a decade of covering sports in the St Louis market. Drummond can be seen Sundays through Thursdays at 6 & 10 p.m.
