(KMOV.com) - A former East St. Louis detective pleaded guilty to the drug charges Wednesday.
Orlando Ward and six others were charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess drugs in May. Court documents indicate all the defendants conspired to possess and distribute cocaine between April 5 and May 7.
Ward initially entered a plea of not guilty in May. Prosecutors said he could face life in prison, but is also eligible for a first time offender's program, which means he may only receive a 7-year sentence.
