East Alton couple charged after 1-year-old found hotel room with heroin

(KMOV.com) – Madison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two East Alton residents Tuesday after a tip the couple were endangering a child.

Brandon Reames, 26, and Erika Huck, 23, were staying at the Mid West Motel in the 900 block of Thorngate Drivein Granite City with their one-year-old daughter.

According to police, officers received a call Wednesday morning that the couple was staying at the hotel and engaging in narcotic use with their child present. 

Police arrived just before 10 a.m., and upon searching the room, found multiple hypodermic syringes, drug paraphernalia and an amount of heroin, according to the report.

Huck was arrested on an outstanding warrant for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. The couple’s daughter was taken into protective custody by the Department of Children and Family Services.

Reams and Huck were transported to the Madison County Jail where they are held pending charges.

Their bond is set at $15,000 each.
