(KMOV) – The St. Louis area on Thursday is expected to see scattered thunderstorms and showers, some of which could be heavy.

Temperatures Thursday morning were around 60 degrees and are expected to rise to the low 80s by the early afternoon.

The early fog will burn off, ushering in partly sunny skies with increasing cloudiness by the mid-afternoon. The scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon.

“The latest radar shows weakening large cluster over northwest Missouri,” said News 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton. “While this will mainly fall apart a spot shower may linger and get in here by early afternoon.”

New showers and storms will develop in the late afternoon and early evening, though not everyone in the St. Louis area will get hit. Those who do get rain could see up to an inch, which could result in local flooding in some spots.

Looking ahead, both Friday and Saturday are expected to be picturesque, with a few late storms forecasted for Father’s Day.
