(KMOV.com) – A dog had to be rescued after Central County Fire Rescue responded to a basement fire in St. Charles Friday morning.

Central County Fire Rescue said the homeowners alerted the firefighters that their dog, Harvey, was still inside the home.  Captain Decosty and his crew found Harvey and were able to get him to safety with the help of St. Peters Animal Control Officers.

Central County Fire Rescue was assisted by O’Fallon and Cottleville firefighters in battling the blaze in the Englewood Subdivision.
