(KMOV) – A line of showers and storms made its way through the St. Louis area early Wednesday, the first of two systems expected in the region throughout the day.
A thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of the News 4 viewing area until 11 a.m.
The cluster of strong to severe storms was moving west to east across the northern part of the region Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 70s.
“This storm is capable of producing damaging hail and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour,” said News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt.
The first system will stick around through at least the late-morning hours before another round of storms start to develop in the afternoon.
Those storms will start to get in the southern part of the viewing area by the evening commute.
"There is a chance these storms could be severe in the southern parts of the St. Louis area," said Ehrhardt.
