(KMOV) – A line of showers and storms left thousands of St. Louis area residents without electricity early Wednesday.
The cluster of strong to severe storms moved west to east across the northern part of the region Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 70s.
At the storm's peak., more than 8,500 area residences were without power, 7,000 of them in Franklin County. In St. Louis County, more than 1,400 homes did not have electricity, while nearly 100 St. Charles County homes were without power.
As of 10:30 a.m., just more than 1,300 Franklin County residences were without electricity.
East Central College in Union, Mo. intially canceled classes, but was able to resume around 10 a.m. once power was restored.
