JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As many as 300,000 Missourians are still waiting for tax refund checks nearly a two months after the tax deadline.
State officials say it may be another month before the Missouri Department of Revenue sends out the remaining $140 million in refunds.
Through the end of April, Missouri’s net general revenues were up just 0.5 percent though the first 10 months of the 2014 fiscal year.
A state tax official says the state is not behind on processing the refunds, but are choosing to hold onto the money a little longer than usual.
