(KMOV.com) – All customers of the Jersey County Rural Water Company in Illinois were issued a boil order Friday morning, but it has since been lifted.
All customers located in Jersey, Macoupin, Madison and Greene Counties were under a boil order starting around 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
Jersey County Rural Water issued the boil order after a water main break on McInerney Ave.
During a boil order, authorities say any water being used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before consumption. If using water for bathing, washing or other common uses the water does not need to be boiled.
