NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Ford announced Thursday it is recalling at least 1.1 million popular SUVs that may have steering issues.
The recall involves about 915,000 2008-2011 Ford Escapes and Mercury Mariners, and about 196,000 2011-2013 Ford Explorers.
Sensors and electrical connections could cause the vehicles to lose power steering, making steering more difficult and increasing the risk of a crash. Not all vehicles have the same issue, Ford said.
Ford did not immediately provide information on whether accidents or injuries were connected to the problem.
