Body pulled from Grafton Harbor identified as missing boater

NUTWOOD, Ill. (KMOV) – The body of a missing boater from Thursday, was pulled from Grafton Harbor in Grafton, Illinois on Sunday according to Jersey County Coroner Larry Alexander.

Alexander said a worker at Grafton Harbor found the body and notified authorities.  Grafton Harbor is located where the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers meet.  Authorities have identified the body as George Price, 44, of Nutwood, Illinois who had gone missing last week.

On Thursday, officials with the Jersey County Sheriff’s office said a couple’s boat capsized near Nutwood, Illinois, a town about an hour away from St. Louis.

Two people were on board.  One of the passengers was rescued.

An initial search for the missing boater began after the incident, but it was called off after a few hours.

The Coast Guard and other rescue groups joined in the search for the missing boater.
