COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri junior forwards Laurence Bowers and Kim English plan to forego the NBA draft and return to Columbia to play for new coach Frank Haith next year.
The two starters declared for the NBA draft in early April on the same day the school hired Haith as its new men's basketball coach. Not hiring an agent allowed each to gauge their pro potential without losing college eligibility.
Both Bowers and English were projected as second-round draft picks at best in the late June draft. With an NBA labor lockout looming, neither wanted to take the chance of being unable to sign a pro contract.
Bowers announced his decision through a university spokesman. English opted to disclose his return on his popular Twitter account.
