UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – A few weeks ago, police increased security in the Delmar Loop in University City after repeated complaints about rowdy teenagers causing problems in the area. However, at that point, it was unclear how much of a difference the police presence would make.
With the warm weather this weekend, teens are likely to be out, and Friday night, police presence is as evident as it was in the immediate response to the complaints several weeks ago.
Some say there is even more of a police presence than there was at first. Police now begin patrolling the area as early as 6 p.m. That’s opposed to 8 p.m. or 9 p.m., which is the time they began patrolling a few weeks ago.
Their main objective is to make sure teenagers are not loitering in big groups for extended periods of time.
