CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV) – A truckload of several hundred pounds of chicken parts spilled onto Interstate 64/Highway 40 in Chesterfield on Tuesday, leaving more than a quarter mile of spill and residue consisting of chicken skin, livers and gizzards.

The accident happened just past Chesterfield Parkway at Timberlake Manor. Roads were closed for more than two hours, and reopened around 7p.m.

Fire officials had to ask for a snow plow to move the material. They also used hoses to wash away the residue.

While crews were successful at removing the waste, odors, described as "rotten meat," lingered into area neighborhoods.

Chesterfield police say they are looking for a white flatbed truck with "American Waste" posted on the side.

The truck supposedly spilled the load, and did not stop.

If the suspect is found, Chesterfield police plan to ticket the driver for the cleanup.
