(KMOV) – Two women were rescued Friday night from rising flood waters in Jefferson County, just across the Meramec River and south of Eureka along Twin Rivers Road.
High Ridge firefighters responded to a call of two women trapped on the swollen river in a small inflatable raft. The fire chief says the women were trying to take medicine to a relative who lives along the river.
The two women were rescued from a raft after clinging to a power pole. The current was too strong to paddle to shore according to the emergency crew.
The fire chief says the women were both a little cold, but not hurt. Authorities say this incident is a serious issue, because with the river as high as it is, no one should be on the river.
