(KMOV) – A man is dead after a vehicle struck and killed him in north St. Louis Saturday night.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. on Natural Bridge Road at Goodfellow.

According to police, the driver, 19, hit a pedestrian in his Chevy Impala, ran into a power pole and flipped.  The car came to rest upside down.

Lazarus Britton, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck.

Officials say the driver was under the influence. He was arrested, and warrants will be issued once the toxicology reports are finalized.

There were three other teenagers in the car with him. One suffered minor injuries.

Police believe the driver lost control of the car before hitting Britton.
