(KMOV) -- St. Louis police are searching for suspects who tried to strike officers with a vehicle.

Officials said the incident happened near Page and Union around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Three men in a red Dodge Charger attempted to hit officers.  Officers fired shots at the vehicle after one of the suspects pointed a gun at one of the officers.  Shots hit the suspects' windshield, but it is unknown if anyone was hit.

Police followed the car, but lost sight of it around Hanley and Delmar near University City.

Another officer spotted what was believed to be the suspects' vehicle near Highway 40 and Hampton and followed it.  According to the officer, the driver was violating every law.  That officer also lost sight of the car on Highway 44.

Police say they located the suspects' vehicle in south St. Louis around 7 p.m. on Saturday in the 3700 block of Kosciusko. The suspects are still on the loose.

According to authorities, the car was stolen from Florissant last week.
