Man charged in Jefferson County homicide

(KMOV) — Charges have been filed after a man was found shot in a vehicle in Jefferson County on Sunday.

Ryan Harris was charged with murder after 27-year-old Michael K. Maybearry, from Imperial, Missouri was allegedly discovered by firefighters inside his vehicle. He suffered from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. The vehicle was discovered at Old Highway 21 and New Highway 21 by emergency crews around 3 a.m.

Maybearry was transported to Barnes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Major Case squad was activated at the request of the Jefferson County Sheriff.

Investigators were able to determine that the victim was shot with a .45 caliber handgun from evidence recovered at the scene.

The investigation led to the identification of a suspect located in Country club manor subdivision off Old Highway 21 in Imperial.

The weapon was recovered.

Investigators are determining what, if any prior relationship existed between the shooter and the victim.

Officials say drugs were involved, and may in part explain the deadly shooting.
