(KMOV)-- One by one, individuals stood on a wooden block on the stairs of the Old Courthouse downtown, while sellers auctioned them off to the highest bidder.
Slavery may be a thing of the past, but hundreds gathered Saturday as history repeated itself.
The National Black Tourism Network sponsored a slave sale reenactment in front of the courthouse. It is the first event to mark the 150th year since the Civil War in the St. Louis area.
Hundreds gathered downtown for the program.
