(KMOV) – A Belleville MetroLink parking lot was targeted by thieves this week, and some of the break-ins may have happened during the daylight.
This happened in the MetroLink lot near Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. The first break-in was discovered just after dark Monday night as commuters started arriving at their cars.
Police say five cars were hit, but Metro reports only three that they’re aware of. The lot is rather isolated, but there are several security cameras on the premises, and it’s well lit. Metro officials say most lots are staffed around the clock.
Belleville police say this is not a particular trouble spot as far as they’re concerned, but car break-ins are a crime of opportunity. So storing your valuables out of sight is a good idea no matter where you leave your car.
