JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri Supreme Court has ruled that a 2008 state law protects a gun range against a nuisance lawsuit by a neighbor.
The court ruled Tuesday in a lawsuit by a woman from northwest Missouri's Nodaway County over a gun range next to her property that's owned by the city of Maryville. Court documents show the woman wanted to bar the gun range from operating.
Missouri lawmakers approved legislation in 2008 barring lawsuits accusing gun ranges of nuisance or trespassing violations. That law also gives gun ranges civil and criminal immunity from noise complaints.
The state Supreme Court concluded the statute prohibited the woman's lawsuit.
