ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The winter storm system that has been making its way across the plains is now causing problems in the St. Louis area and other parts of eastern Missouri.
By Tuesday morning, a few inches of snow were on the ground in St. Louis and its suburbs, but that was enough to cause a large number of traffic accidents, mostly fender-benders.
Most schools in the region were closed.
Parts of western Missouri received up to 8 inches of snow on Monday.
The snow wasn't the only problem. The storm brought bitter cold, with wind chills around zero in much of the state.
