JUPITER, Fla (KMOV) - While the big story of the day is Mark McGwire's arrival to Jupiter as hitting coach, players actually practiced some baseball Wednesday morning.

Among the notable players working out today was Kyle Lohse, who threw a bullpen session for the first time this Spring. I'll have video of his workout on the site later today. Besides a couple of pitchers throwing bullpen sessions, workouts for the most part were light and short.

Position players here early at the Roger Dean Stadium complex continued to work on fielding drills and get reps in the batting cages. Joe Mather and Skip Schumaker are both here early. While Schumaker's spot at second base is etched in stone, Mather will  be competing for the open third base spot left by Derosa's departure. The players who timed their batting cage workouts right had a chance to learn from Big Mac, who came out to the cages about 45 minutes after getting here.

Take a look to your right for some photo's of today's workouts.
