Reversible lanes on I-70 shutting down for 2 months

Today crews will shut down the reversible lanes on I-70 near downtown St. Louis. Those lanes will be closed for two months. For now that appears to be a minor setback. Starting Friday at 8pm crews will shut down I-70 from the Poplar Street bridge to St. Louis Avenue Bridge. We are told the contractor will tear down the Cass Bridge. That stretch of I-70 is expected to reopen on Monday by 5:00am. Then crews will shut down that same stretch again the weekend of March 5th-8th to remove the Madison Street Bridge. This is all apart of the New Mississippi River Bridge Project. MODOT is suggesting that drivers avoid that area on those weekends. If you must travel in that direction Broadway, Washington Avenue, and Memorial Drive will all be used as detour routes.
