Arrest made in theft of fallen soldiers property

(KMOV) – An arrest has been made in the case of a local airman’s possessions stolen from his wife and mother.

Bradley Smith died in Afghanistan on January 3rd after an IED exploded.

On February 9th, Gary Smith, Bradley's father, says someone in Colorado Springs stole items belonging to his late son.
Today, Colorado Springs Sheriff Terry Maketa said they arrested one person in connection to the crime. Maketa says they also have a warrant for a second suspect, but have not yet located that person.
The arrest was made on February 12th, but it was not made public at that time in an effort to recover the stolen property. The property has not yet been located.
The suspect who was arrested has been identified as 29 year old Denard Thompson. He is currently being held at the Criminal Justice Center on charges of Theft by Receiving, First Degree Criminal Trespass and Conspiracy to Commit Felony Theft. His charges carry a $3,000 bond. He is also being held on two other warrants, one of which is a “no bond” warrant.
The second suspect is at large and has been identified as 22 year old Dwain Boyd. An arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest. When arrested he will face charges of Felony Theft, First Degree Criminal Trespass, and Conspiracy. Boyd is described as a black male, 5’10” and 200 pounds.
