Normandy's assistant fire chief suspended without pay

(KMOV) -- The assistant fire chief for Normandy's Northeast Ambulance and Fire Protection District was arrested last weekend for traffic violations, and for driving with a suspended license. He is now suspended without pay.

An officer from the Pine Lawn Police Department pulled Robert Manuel over late Saturday night for having expired tags. He was driving a red 1995 Ford Crown Victoria.

According to police, Manuel did not have the proper paperwork for the car. The same car was reported stolen from the St. Louis Police Department about three years ago. Manuel refutes this claim, insisting that he purchased the car from a St. Louis scrap yard.
