(KMOV)-- The family of one of the victim’s of the Kirkwood City Hall shootings is filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
Sunday will mark the 2 year anniversary of the night Charles Cookie Thornton killed two people and wounded two others.
The suit, on behalf of councilwoman Connie Karr's husband and child, alleges Whelan Security and security guard Ronald Whitehead knew Thornton was a threat and should have done more that night.
Attorney Chet Pleban said, "This security company wasn't providing an individual to be a greeter at Walmart. This guy was to perform a service and the service he was to provide was security for a council meeting."
The suit seeks $25,000 in damages. Pleban says it is not about the money for the family, but closure.
