Popular Parents as Teachers program may be forced to cut services
By Afton Spriggs
(KMOV)-- A popular child screening program is facing cuts Wednesday as part of Missouri budget cutbacks.
Parents as teachers will lose $2 million immediately. Parent educators visit with young children to screen them for developmental or physical problems. Last year, they served 150,000 families across Missouri.
Once that funding is cut to school districts, it's feared those services may be cut back, or cancelled.
