CLAYTON, Mo. (AP/KMOV) -- A St. Louis County teenager is accused of murdering her newborn daughter by leaving the infant outdoors last Christmas Day.
Towanda Rogers, 19, remained jailed Tuesday on $50,000 bond. She was charged Friday and arraigned Monday on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree child endangerment.
County prosecutor Robert McCulloch's office said Rogers is accused of putting her newborn daughter outdoors to die on Dec. 25, 2008. By the time help arrived, the child was dead.
It wasn't immediately clear why it took several months for Rogers to be charged.
No attorney was listed for Rogers in court records.
