CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- A man is undergoing mental evaluation and treatment after slitting his wrists outside of the St. Louis County courthouse, then writing in blood on a window and the sidewalk.
Clayton Police Chief Thomas Byrne says the incident happened about 11 a.m. Monday. The man's name was not released. Byrne says the man, in his 50s, was apparently distraught over a divorce.
Byrne says the injuries are not life-threatening, but the man was bleeding profusely. He began writing his wife's maiden name when Clayton and St. Louis County officers stopped him.
No one else was hurt or threatened. Byrne says the man was not arrested and charges will not be sought.
