ALTON -Beautification projects were in full bloom throughout the city on Sunday.
Mayor Tom Hoechst toured 11 properties that showcased volunteers' efforts to improve and enhance their neighborhoods. Volunteers at each of the locations received a $250 grant from the Alton Clean City and Beautification Committee.

"The (volunteers) did all the work," said Laura Wallendorf, grants chair. "The whole concept of the program is to help the neighborhoods."
