HUNTSDALE, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities have released the name of the 15-year-old Columbia boy who saved a younger swimmer before drowning himself.
The Missouri State Water Patrol on Monday identified the victim as Corey Morris of Columbia. The incident happened Saturday in the Missouri River near Huntsdale.
The Missouri State Water Patrol says several children were playing when a younger child was swept away. Morris pushed the child out of the current, but then he got caught in the current. The younger child made it to the river bank, but Morris went under and did not resurface.
His body was found a short time later, but he couldn't be revived.
