Two business-related centers at SIUE received a boost this week as the recipients of approximately $598,000 in federal appropriations grant money.
The university's National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) received $360,000 and the Southwestern Illinois Advance Manufacturing (SIAM) Center received $238,000.
"Both of these programs are vital to the region's economy," SIUE Chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift said in a statement released by the university. "It doesn't matter where you look. Everyone is trying to do more with less and we are all looking for ways to go green, reduce reliance on non-renewable resources and embrace technology."
Vandegrift specifically thanked U.S. Representative John Shimkus for his support.
