CHICAGO (AP) -- Rod Blagojevich's defense team is preparing to announce a new member, possibly Wednesday when the former governor's attorneys are due to meet with federal Judge James B. Zagel.
One team member, attorney Giel Stein, wants off the case and may leave after the Wednesday hearing. The hallway whispers are that he will be replaced by one of Chicago's most colorful defense attorneys. But that has not been confirmed.
Stein's job has been to supervise five young lawyers plowing through 3.5 million pages of evidence and hours of wiretap tapes.
Asked why he wanted to leave, Stein said it was confidential because it has to do with attorney-client work.
