(KMOV)-- Governor Pat Quinn vetoed another budget bill. Now he wants lawmakers to cut another billion dollars from the budget, part of those cuts include laying-off 2,600 state employees. Those notices are already being sent out. Employees who get to keep their jobs will have to take 12 unpaid furlough days.
One of the first places to get hit by the cuts will be the Vandalia Correctional Center. It's about 60 miles north-east of St. Louis.
On Wednesday 127 job cuts will be announced. There is currently 317 workers.
The job cuts will take effect Sept. 30.
The state is also considering freeing non violent drug offenders.
