(BaseballStL) -- David Freese was a last minute scratch just prior to the game Monday night in Houston after injuring his ankle.

The Cardinals say Freese rolled his ankle while in the batting cage in the tunnel just moments before the start of the game.

No word on serious the injury may be.

Matt Carpenter was penciled in Freese's spot for the night.
