HOUSTON—An 18-year-old is charged with murder after fatally shooting a man at a "Sweet 16" party in north Houston early Sunday, according to Houston police.
Johnny Robert Benavidez is accused of killing 27-year-old Edgar Garcia.
Authorities say about a dozen people showed up uninvited to the Sweet 16 party at a home on Lauder and Korenek around 12:30 a.m.
A fight broke out when they were asked to leave. They did eventually leave, but came back to the home.
When another argument began, Benavidez allegedly drew a handgun and opened fire. Garcia was shot in the face and died in the driveway.
Benavidez is scheduled to appear in Harris County court Monday. He did not have an attorney listed.
