ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis native says he's being detained in Dubai and falsely accused of smuggling guns.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Steve Dolan, who grew up in St. Louis, is a vice president for APL Emirates and has lived in Dubai for two years.
Dolan says Dubai authorities have accused him of smuggling guns and have confiscated his passport. But Dolan says he knows nothing about the approximately 30,000 handguns and ammunition authorities discovered in a container that stopped in Dubai.
Dolan's case is moving through the courts there, and he could face up to 50 years in prison.
An APL spokesman didn't respond to an email seeking comment Saturday. Dolan is a cousin is Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, also from the St. Louis area.
