CLAYCOMO, Mo. (AP) -- A 33-year-old Kansas City area man faces charges after authorities found his 3-year-old daughter padlocked inside the family's home.
The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/Q5XeFN) that James C. Simpson of Claycomo was charged Friday with first-degree child endangerment and misdemeanor stealing. Bond has been set at $50,000. Online court records don't list a lawyer for Simpson.
Court records say a bail bondsman went to the home Thursday looking for Simpson, who was wanted on a check forgery warrant. The bondsman discovered the door padlocked from the outside, and when he managed to get into the home, the bondsman found the toddler inside alone.
Simpson was arrested when he returned home and is also accused of shoplifting from a thrift store.
