URBANDALE, Iowa – An Iowa couple that reserved a beautiful barn for their wedding day had no idea it would lead to receiving a gift from President Barack Obama.
Sayli and Jon Gibbs were married in Iowa on Sept. 1 but only after they agreed to alter their plans so the president could use the same facility as a campaign stop.
The couple was told the campaign would probably run long, which would cause their afternoon wedding to get pushed back.
Much to the couple’s surprise, when President Obama’s motorcade pulled away and the crowd dispersed, they found a special gift: a silver tray with a cup, both with the presidential seal. Topping it off was a handwritten note from the president himself: “Congratulations on the wedding. Michelle and I wish you a great life together.”
