SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (KMOV) — Police say a shooting initially reported outside a Sunset Hills Burger King Monday evening has been deemed a false report.
Police say the victim told authorities he was walking towards the front door of the restaurant in the 10000 block of Sunset Hills Plaza around 8:30 p.m. when a suspect approached him from behind and shot him.
But now police are saying the man has recanted the portion of the story involving the Burger King.
According to police, while the man was shot, authorities believe the incident happened in Jennings. They think he then drove to his home and made a false police report for unknown reasons.
Police say they plan to seek charges against the shooting victim for filing a false police report.
The shooting investigation has been handed over to St. Louis County police.
