ST. LOUIS (AP) -- About 1,000 students from Maryville University students in St. Louis are skipping class—but for a good cause.
The university canceled daytime classes Tuesday for a day of service to the St. Louis-area community. The program, Maryville Reaches Out, is in its fifth year. Volunteers planned to work at about 80 sites throughout the St. Louis region.
Some of the students will paint a mural. Others will work with the homeless, do crafts with children, or provide landscaping and cleanup for an organization that provides equine-assisted therapy.
