Rams Fisher leading team with swagger

ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) – The St. Louis Rams pulled out a tough 31-28 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday in a way that its fans haven’t seen in years – aggressive and chippy.

It was a battle of two very competitive teams that wouldn’t back down from each other as shown in the scuffles between each whistle.

“It is a completely different swagger (from past Rams teams),” running back Steven Jackson said following Sunday’s game.  “It is just amazing. I know it’s only Week 2, and we’re 1-1, but it is just a whole different atmosphere.  I can’t thank Coach (Jeff) Fisher enough for what he has done and what he is doing with us.  He exudes confidence which falls on everybody else.”

At times throughout Sunday’s home opener, Fisher could be seen pumping up the crowd on the sidelines.  It was arguably the loudest the Edward Jones Dome has been in years.

“You know, you should have fun.  You should look forward coming to work when you pull in the parking lot and have fun doing it,” Fisher said at his Monday press conference.  “When you are here, you expect to win.  That is kind of the attitude that they have and that goes back to our first little scuffle in the first play of our OTA.  They were ready to move forward and they have done so, but it’s only Week 2.”

In the first two weeks, the Rams have scored more than fourth of the points the team had in the entire 2011 season and are already one win shy of last season’s total.  The team also showed resilience by overcoming a 15-point deficit on Sunday while clamping down on defense against the Redskins, who scored 40 points in last week, in the second half.

The Rams will look to continue the strong play for a third consecutive week when they face the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
