With most Missouri fans expecting a blowout, they won't be disappointed by the first exhibition game. Missouri won easily 96-33. Sophomore forward Laurence Bowers led the way for the tigers with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard J.T. Tiller had 13 points. The rest of the high scoring offense was spread out amongst the team with everyone on the team scoring, including Stafford, English and Dixon scoring 10 each. Truman State couldn't find an answer for the strong Missouri defense, which looked just as sharp with 20 steals and 6 blocks. Even when Mizzou was up big, the players were still were running up and down the court, putting in a lot of effort, living up to the "fastest 40 minutes in basketball" nickname.
Although many were hoping to see who would step up, play a lot of minutes and score often, coach Mike Anderson got everyone involved making his exhibition record as Missouri head coach a perfect 7-0. It's hard to say what this proved for the rest of the season, but the next game will be against NW Missouri State should be more of a test. That game will be at 7 p.m. next Friday at Mizzou Arena.
