ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Three people have pleaded guilty to a marijuana conspiracy in Jefferson County.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Monday that 58-year-old Michael Yocum of Hillsboro, 45-year-old Brian Yocum of St. Louis, and 26-year-old Nelson Gilberto Gutierrez of Tucson, Ariz., each pleaded guilty last week to conspiring to possess more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, with the intent to distribute it.
Michael Yocum agreed to forfeit property derived from the illegal activity. The seized marijuana was valued at $1 million.
The U.S. Attorney's office said 39-year-old Elizabeth Leon of Chandler, Ariz., allegedly drove 630 pounds of marijuana from Arizona to a hotel in Festus. Gutierrez followed in another vehicle.
The two Yocum brothers met them there.
Leon was indicted on the same charges and faces trial.
