I intended to blog this morning about tonight's total lunar eclipse, but hard-working Kristen Cornett beat me to the punch. Her posting from Tuesday does a great job of breaking down the astronomical event, so check out her entry just below this one.
I do have one addition to make. Kristen's blog entry mentions tonight's events at the McDonnell Planetarium in Forest Park, but we've been made aware of another eclipse-related event. At 7:30 pm tonight, at the Quail Ridge Lodge in Quail Ridge Park (near Wentzville, MO off of Highway 40), the St. Charles County Parks Department will host a free public viewing of the lunar eclipse.
Advanced registration is encouraged for this family-friendly event, and groups with more than 10 members planning to attend should call (636) 949-7535 to assist with staffing preparations. You can also call this number for additional information on tonight's event. For a complete listing of 2008 star-gazing events in St. Charles County, check out www.stccparks.org.
