Time for a May Report Card

Unless you've been living under a rock since the start of the year, you know that our weather has been unusually wet of late. If you have been living under a rock, you've probably been flooded out of your home more than once over the last three months.

Nevertheless, the statistics are remarkable...

  • Of the 15 May days already on the books, 11 have been wet at Lambert Field. That means 11 of the last 15 days have brought some sort of rain to our area -- not the best batting average.
  • St. Louis has received 4.28 inches of rain so far this month. That's 2.30 inches more than normal for this point in May.
  • St. Louis has received 23.01 inches of rain so far in 2008. That's 9.32 inches more than normal for this point in the year.

So, how's the second half of the month shaping up? At this point, there is some indication that the next two weeks will be warmer, and perhaps a bit less active, than the last two. In fact, it appears as though next work-week may bring the warmest temperatures of the year so far. However, don't count on completely smooth sailing. More large storm systems will move across the country in the coming weeks, bringing more rain and storms into our area. But, it's finally beginning to look like these systems may be passing through less frequently, allowing us to get a bit warmer between each series of fronts.

Of course, you can check the latest five-day forecast anytime in the weather section of KMOV.com. Our team of meteorologists updates that forecast numerous times every day.

We'll keep tracking the statistics, and bringing you updates on where we stand from time to time. In the short term, enjoy what looks to be a beautiful weekend!
