Note To Self: "It's Still Winter!"

In the past couple of weeks we've had a couple of days in the 70s and quite a few days in the 50s. So it's understanable that many of us are anxious to get Spring off and running. The only problem with that is it's still Winter!!!.

It's the middle of February and, historically, some of the worst Winter weather we've had in the past has been in late February and March. We're still about 5 weeks from Spring folks.

Think about this for a minute. Warm air has a higher capacity for water vapor than cold air. So if a Spring-like storm emerges from the southwest this time of year it may be fairly warm. As such it has the capacity to hold alot more water vapor. If this relatively warm, saturated system collides with a cold air mass . . . something's got to give. Many times these systems result in heavy, wet snow.

Last February we received 8.2 inches of snow with 3.2 inches of that falling in the latter half of the month.

So be patient. We're gettin' there.
