Right after Christmas, I made a to-do list for 2008. Remember that? I planned to take a trip every quarter, read three books a month, learn to knit...yada...yada.
Well, it's time to review. I haven't learned to knit. Much to my dismay, you won't see me doing the tango on "Dancing With The Stars" because I didn't start my salsa lessons; oh, and my commitment to healthy eating is still easily derailed by the latest special at Sonic.
But before you write me off as more mic than anchor, I have met a few of my goals. In May I joined the Children's Choir for a concert at Powell Symphony Hall, and now I'm preparing for a piano concert where I perform several classical solos. My place looks like a small library, overflowing with all of the books I have read this year (in fact, stay tuned I'm combining reading and blogging). And fuel surchanges and luggage fees aside, I have taken a trip every quarter!
There are six months left to cross off everything on my to-do list, maybe I'll get there. But if nothing else, I'm encouraged. For a recovering procrastinator, these first six months have helped me "reconnect" with my can-do spirit. If you're looking for some help, consider a book I just finished reading: Execution:The Discipline Of Getting Things Done. And when you get around to it, let me know what you think.
