Strike a pose! Go 'head, work it! Okay, I know...hard to have fashion attitude in flip-flops and a sundress.
But it won't always be "hot in here". Before you know it, the temperature will fall and the leaves will follow. And the city's fashion forward is sweatin' bullets in anticipation.
ALIVE Magazine unveiled its lineup today for Fashion Week in Saint Louis...the fall version. The Four Seasons Hotel, St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission and a number of other big names are sponsors for what's becoming a midwest tradition. According to organizers, it is the only fashion week in the heartland; Chicago's turn on the catwalk having succumbed to the country's economic troubles. New York's Fashion Week is the gold standard, but the runway on the banks of the Mississippi is rapidly making a name for itself.
Nelly's "Apple Bottoms" clothing line will showcase its new high-end exclusive collection during Fashion Week, and Murphy Lee and Kyjuan will launch their own line of colorful, innovative urban wear. So, if you haven't thought about what sweater to rock with which skirt or trousers, you have some time. St. Louis Fashion Week starts in early October...the announcement made by one of the country's best-dressed mayor's: the Honorable Francis Slay. Seriously, I don't make this stuff up, Esquire magazine named the mayor to its 2007 list! And, you thought he was just another politician.
